Fluency (stuttering)

Fluency refers to the smoothness, rhythm, and flow of verbal communication. It often relates to issues like stuttering or pauses that interrupt normal speech patterns.

We aim to support a child’s fluency skills by:

  • Helping children and their families understand stuttering, reducing any feelings of embarrassment or self-consciousness.

  • Working with children on using smoother speech patterns.

  • Teaching children techniques to slow down their speech or take pauses to reduce stuttering.

  • Helping children become more aware of when they stutter and how to control their speech during those moments.

  • Building the child’s confidence so they feel more comfortable speaking, even when they stutter.
